When installed correctly, Kingspan Kooltherm K10 G2 products are designed to offer an extended lifespan of reliable service. The durability of these products relies on factors such as the supporting structure and the specific conditions of use. Concrete Wall Installation (Clip/Channel System)

  1. Install the chosen furring channel clips at the required spacing for plasterboard lining.
  2. Fit the Kingspan Kooltherm® by pushing it over the furring channel clips, ensuring that it abuts the wall and that the wings of the clips penetrate the insulation board. Take care to prevent the foil facing of the Kingspan Kooltherm® from separating from the insulation core by neatly trimming the foil face where the furring channel clip penetrates the insulation.
  3. Butt join the boards of Kingspan Kooltherm® to create a continuous insulation layer.
  4. Install the furring channels by clipping them into the channel clips. The furring channels should be tightly pressed against the face of the Kingspan Kooltherm®. If the furring channels are not snug against the insulation, contact Kingspan Insulation Technical Service for further guidance.
  5. Proceed to install the plasterboard lining.

Taping, Cutting, Packaging, Storage and Handling

For optimal results in this system, it is recommended to secure the joins of Kingspan Kooltherm boards using 48 mm wide reinforced aluminum foil tape. To apply the tape effectively, use a plastic squeegee or blade to exert the necessary pressure. Prior to taping, ensure that the surfaces are dry and free from dust, oil, or grease. To cut the boards, you can either use a fine-toothed saw or score them with a sharp knife, snap the board over a straight edge, and then cut the facing on the opposite side. It is important to trim the boards accurately to achieve tight-fitting joints and maintain insulation continuity.

The boards are supplied in packs, labeled, and shrink-wrapped in polythene, with the quantity varying accordingly. Please note that the packaging of Kingspan Kooltherm® should not be considered suitable for long-term outdoor protection. Ideally, the boards should be stored indoors. However, if outdoor storage is unavoidable, ensure that the boards are stacked above the ground and covered with an opaque polythene sheet or weatherproof tarpaulin. It is crucial not to use boards that have been exposed to moisture.
